Don’t wait to register. This event sold out last year.
Keynote Speaker Erin Kotecki Vest

We are delighted and very lucky this year to have Erin Kotecki Vest as the Nevada Interactive Media Summit’s keynote speaker. Also known across the social web as @QueenofSpain , Erin is Political Director and Producer of Special Projects for BlogHer, Inc., the leading participatory news, entertainment and information network for women online that reaches more than 15 million women each month via annual conferences, a Web hub (http://www.blogher.com), and an publishing network of more than 2,500 qualified, contextually targeted blog affiliates. Like BlogHer, Erin is a social media trendsetter–combining her experience in journalism and interactive media to produce influential content and programming. She is known far and wide for her wit, sharp criticism, her prolific use of the #suckit hashtag, and her willingness to engage with her fans and followers on a daily basis (as her more than 17,000 followers on Twitter will attest).
Erin spearheads BlogHer’s initiative to connect community members directly to legislators and policy-makers. Recent successes have included landing an in-person briefing on women online with Senior Advisor to President Obama, Valerie Jarrett, an exclusive on-camera interview with then-candidate Obama, a series of live, interactive conference calls about health care between Congresspeople from both sides of the aisle and BlogHer’s omni-partisan community members, and an exclusive webcast with Health and Human Service Secretary Kathleen Sebelius about health care reform.
Prior to joining BlogHer, Erin spent ten years as a broadcast journalist in Los Angeles, Orlando and Detroit winning six Golden Mic Awards with LA news institution KFWB. She continues to blog on her personal site Queen of Spain Blog, and can be found tweeting both for @BlogHer and as @queenofspain .
Erin will use her legendary humor and her experience as a journalist, blogger, and online provocateur to discuss with us why social media is too important for anyone to ignore–in just a few years–social media has seeped into almost every facet of our daily lives including our government and politics, our personal relationships, the media, business, education, and more. In her own words:
“Social media has a role in everything from politics to journalism to simply updating family on your life and it’s now mainstream. To ignore it, is to turn a blind eye to the world around them. And to ignore it is also misses the huge opportunity it provides. For promoting one’s work. For elevating one’s voice. For supporting one’s causes. For authentically connecting to other people and enriching one’s life.”
Don’t wait to register for this year’s Nevada Interactive Media Summit. The event sold out last year.

Meet 2009 NIM Summit Keynote Speaker, Jesse Stay
January 31, 2009 by Tracy Viselli
Filed under Events, Nevada Interactive Media Summit, News
We are excited to announce that Jesse Stay will be the keynote speaker at the Nevada Interactive Media Summit ‘09. If you’re on Twitter, you’ve probably noticed Jesse since he has close to 8,000 followers. He takes the social part of social media very seriously and looks for innovate ways to integrate technology and social interaction in a way that improves relationships. ”We’re Related” a Facebook application Stay helped design, helps families connect through Facebook. It’s also one of Facebook’s top 10 applications with almost 12,000,000 active monthly users.
His newest venture, SocialToo, gives people the ability to manage their interactions on social networks better, as well as providing a way to conduct live opinion polls.

From his official bio:
Jesse Stay, the self-proclaimed “Social” Geek, is a well-reputed speaker, author, blogger, and entrepreneur, who writes and consults on the topics of social media and new media. Jesse wrote two books, his first book, “I’m on Facebook–Now What???“, discusses the possibilities of improving your career, family, business, and life through Facebook. His unique technology background has enabled him to help others understand the new mesh of technology, marketing, PR, and customer service, which social media has come to be. Through his expertise, Jesse has consulted for top 10 Facebook applications, large corporations, social media applications with hundreds of thousands of users, and has helped many people become successful through their social media efforts to merge technology with marketing. Jesse is currently CEO, Founder, and Chief Architect of another successful social media venture called SocialToo, which makes it easier to manage and stay in touch with the people you or your business follow on the social networks you belong to. Jesse also writes regularly for the popular tech blog, LouisGray, along with his own blog, StayNAlive, and occasionally on the top two Facebook blogs, InsideFacebook and AllFacebook. You can find him there, or on Twitter under his screen name, @Jesse.
I think we’re very lucky to get Jesse Stay as our keynote speaker, but I’m biased. He also happens to be my cousin. He’ll be able to speak to our theme “Community Engagement,” in the context of his work as well as discuss the direction he sees interactive media moving to in the future. We are also hoping to have a local social media innovator join Jesse in opening The Summit on March 7th in style. We’ll keep you updated on any developments as they occur.
Don’t forget to submit your proposal. We know there are many experts out there and we want to hear and learn from all of them. The deadline is February 8th.
