We are excited to announce that Jesse Stay will be the keynote speaker at the Nevada Interactive Media Summit ‘09.  If you’re on Twitter, you’ve probably noticed Jesse since he has close to 8,000 followers. He takes the social part of social media very seriously and looks for innovate ways to integrate technology and social interaction in a way that improves relationships. ”We’re Related” a Facebook application Stay helped design, helps families connect through Facebook.  It’s also  one of Facebook’s top 10 applications with almost 12,000,000 active monthly users.

His newest venture, SocialToo, gives people the ability to manage their interactions on social networks better, as well as providing a way to conduct live opinion polls.

From his official bio:

Jesse Stay, the self-proclaimed “Social” Geek, is a well-reputed speaker, author, blogger, and entrepreneur, who writes and consults on the topics of social media and new media. Jesse wrote two books, his first book, “I’m on Facebook–Now What???“, discusses the possibilities of improving your career, family, business, and life through Facebook.  His unique technology background has enabled him to help others understand the new mesh of technology, marketing, PR, and customer service, which social media has come to be.  Through his expertise, Jesse has consulted for top 10 Facebook applications, large corporations, social media applications with hundreds of thousands of users, and has helped many people become successful through their social media efforts to merge technology with marketing.  Jesse is currently CEO, Founder, and Chief Architect of another successful social media venture called SocialToo, which makes it easier to manage and stay in touch with the people you or your business follow on the social networks you belong to.  Jesse also writes regularly for the popular tech blog, LouisGray, along with his own blog, StayNAlive, and occasionally on the top two Facebook blogs, InsideFacebook and AllFacebook.  You can find him there, or on Twitter under his screen name, @Jesse.

I think we’re very lucky to get Jesse Stay as our keynote speaker, but I’m biased.  He also happens to be my cousin.  He’ll be able to speak to our theme “Community Engagement,” in the context of his work as well as discuss the direction he sees interactive media moving to in the future. We are also hoping to have a local social media innovator join Jesse in opening The Summit on March 7th in style.  We’ll keep you updated on any developments as they occur.

Don’t forget to submit your proposal. We know there are many experts out there and we want to hear and learn from all of them. The deadline is February 8th.

Register for the Nevada Interactive Media Summit ‘09

The first annual Nevada Interactive Media Summit registration site is finally up!  What is the Nevada Interactive Media Summit?

The Nevada New Media Summit is the first conference exploring the impact of interactive media and technology in Nevada.  Just two months into the first presidential administration to have new media staff, we felt it was time to look into the future and ask, “What’s next?” With the first Nevada Interactive Media Summit, we are seeking to develop an innovative interactive media culture that anticipates trends and issues and will shape the future of interactive media in Nevada.

Nevada Interactive Media Summit will bring Nevada bloggers, podcasters, film makers, Tweeters, PR and advertising professionals and anyone else interested in interactive media from every corner of Nevada  together for hands-on learning, rich discussions, opportunities to meet with local companies working in interactive media, and plentiful networking opportunities. Help make the first Nevada Interactive Media Summit a success and clear your calendar on March 7th so you can help explore the theme: “Community Engagement.”

The NIM Summit will be your chance to meet members of Nevada’s online community “in real life,” whether you are interested in getting real work, making real friends, and/or building real networks.  We also hope to use the Summit to build a new professional association for interactive media professionals.
