In case you have not submitted a proposal for Nevada Interactive Summit ‘09 yet, we’ve got another reason you should submit. If you’re proposal is selected for the event, we will waive your registration fee. So submit a proposal by February 8th and wait to hear from us. If your proposal is selected, we will give you a special registration code so you don’t have to pay the $25.00 registration fee.

If you submit a proposal, please wait to hear back from us about whether or not your proposal was accepted before you register.

We wish we could let everyone in for free, but, well, we have to feed you something don’t we? But in all seriousness, we do feel that Nevada Interactive Media Summit will be a valuable experience–worth well more than the $25.00 we unfortunately have to charge people.

So? What are you waiting for? Get to that proposal–time is running out!

Reno Ignite Launches!

Get ready for Reno Ignite.  What exactly is Ignite and why do we want it in Reno?

If you had five minutes on stage what would you say? What if you only got 20 slides and they rotated automatically after 15 seconds? Around the world geeks have been putting together Ignite nights to show their answers.

Ignite was started in Seattle in 2006 by Brady Forrest and Bre Pettis. Since then hundreds of 5 minute talks have been given across the world. There are thriving Ignite communities in Seattle, Portland, Paris, and NYC.

The international community site is sponsored by O’Reilly where you can find more information and watch videos from other Ignite communities.

Submit a presentation proposal here.  Your topic does not have to be related to technology.  For more information on Ignite, visit Ignite O’Reilly.   Nevada Interactive Media is a proud supporter of Reno Ignite and will be doing what we can to make the first event successful.  The second Reno Ignite event will cap off NNM’s first conference on March 7th.

Here are a few Ignite presentations from other events to whet your appetite.  Even if you don’t want to present, you’ll want to come.

Common Craft’s Social Media in Plain English

Common Craft’s videos are an excellent tool to use during presentations and discussions on social media topics. Their “Explanations In Plain English” series has become so popular because of how well the videos explain concepts that many of us find difficult to explain to people not involved in online social media. Best of all, Common Craft makes versions of the videos available on YouTube to be shared in true social media fashion. I have found them invaluable in my work.
